Trip to Sioux Fall South Dakota

One of Rich, Isaac, Shawn, CJ & CJ's friend Daniel favorite things to do is drive all over the United States and purchase damaged vehicles or pick up parts to repair other vehicles. Rich needed to go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and pick up a cab for a truck he is repairing. Since CJ is gone on his mission and both Isaac & Shawn needed to stay to run the business's he asked me to go. We left Sunday afternoon and drove staight to Sioux Falls. (LONG DRIVE!) Rich was in his "Mall of America" there. He had so much fun. He got his cab all loaded up on the trailer and then looked at me with this sheepish grin. "Come and look at this car" he said. Well this is treasure hunting for Rich and the boys. He found a damaged 06 Kia. "What do you think--what do you think" he kept asking me? Well it looks wrecked to me I would say. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he really wanted to purchase it. The whole idea of us going was to spend a few days together "bonding!" "So how are we going to get it home" I asked. Another sheepish grin and I knew I was driving it clear back to Shelley, Idaho. So with Rich and Simba in the truck pulling the trailer I started following them with the buy of the month. It was hot--and guess what--I had to roll the windows down by hand. Okay--now to find the air conditioner! No air conditioning! Well okay--the wind works--and I'm by myself so up with the music and wind in the hair. We are now on the interstate going west. Where is the cruise control. What no cruise! Okay--Rich--this had better be good on fuel! It was!! Rich asked me if I had ever been to Mount Rushmore. I had not and it was Monday night so we got a hotel and spent the night. After some much needed rest and a good shower we walked out of our hotel and there it was! Mount Rushmore!

Rich and Simba with Mount Rushmore in the background.

I felt like a little kid with excitement as we walked in. Rich still looks sexy!

I couldn't believe that I was there--it looked just like the movies.

We went for the walk and it was fantastic to get so close.

Here we are with our great buys, Rich's new cab and the Kia.

Simba is looking at the Kia's dents. Not bad he thinks.

Father's Day 2008

Happy Father's Day 2008
I hope that all of the "Father's" in my life had a good day! The day started off by Rich being excited for his popcorn bush. He took a picture of it to send to CJ. When I was going through the pictures it was fun to see the bush and reminded me of how happy Rich was that morning. We had a good day.

Rich's popcorn bush. He talks about it all year long. He loves it when it is all in blossom. It was his "Father's Day Flower."

Right after church we were all in the front yard and watching the "kids" play on the little 4-wheeler. I thought we bought it for the grand kids but the "grown kids" were having just as much fun. Even Simba thought it was fun to chase.

Rich holding baby Kade.

Rich and Dot in front yard--
Eaton girls (well a couple were missing!) enjoying the sun.

Bailee, Katelyn, Cole & Richard enjoying Peterson's trampoline.
Isaac & Shawn figuring out the next great play for the 1st annual Father's Day flag football game!
Auntie Jessica getting some smiles from baby Kade as proud Dad watches.

Katelyn giving Cole a ride in Braden Peterson's golf cart. Cole said that if he can't drive he is getting out.
Ok, everyone is gone so now it is Cole's turn alone!

K Nana, why isn't this going?

Did someone put something in front to stop it?

Okay--I'll push!

Thanks Mom for coming to my rescue!

Bag Tagged by Brooke :))))

Okay--was bag tagged by my niece Brooke. So I didn't know what it meant!! LOL--she had to explain. So now I know--I'm catching on here, not too fast but I'm catching on.

Here is my purse--it is a black Guess but the accessories are really silver not gold. I love it because it holds so much as you can see........

In my purse is my pink croc notebook that is my brains. Wallet but the cash and change are just rolling around inside. Notes that are old that need to be thrown away, sunglasses, pen, mints, santizers, hairspray, comb, lipgloss, the little black case is full of my memory cards for my camera (which is usually in my purse also but Jessica as laid claim to it), Bailee's play horse and now for the catcher, my very cute Blackberry and CJ's cell phone. Yes it still works! So now I will go and dump everything back in. Oh yea--whose next???? Well the only other ones that I know right now are Crystal & Jessica--you are now bag tagged and yes--you must show all! Love you guys!

Called to Serve!

For 19 years we have been preparing for CJ to go on a mission. Nineteen years seem so far away and then all of a sudden......

It was time for CJ to turn his papers in. This is the picture that was sent in with his paper work to receive his call.

What seemed an eternity, and it was only three weeks, CJ's call is here. So he goes to the post office and picks it up and lays it on my desk. We have to wait until that evening to open it.

With shaking hands and breaking voice CJ learns that he has been called to serve for 2 years in the Yekaterinburg, Russia mission and he is to enter the MTC on April 9, 2008.

His family and friends family and friends enjoying a dinner at the Shelley Senior Citizen Center after his "farewell". CJ did a great job!

Some of CJ's friends--friends that will soon be serving all over the world.

Just hours before we leave for SLC. C.J. is enjoying his last meal at home. We are busy packing his stuff and making sure he has everything.

CJ is say goodbye to his dogs. He loves his dogs.

Now goodbye to Grandpa Eaton.

Then Grandma Eaton who was too sick to go with us to the MTC.

Our family, eating at I-HOP just before CJ is to enter the M.T.C. Bailee can't understand why I keep crying.

CJ is really in this picture as we are walking up to the MTC. I just couldn't get my camera out of my purse quick enough. He is the one way up there with the red bag looking back wondering what happened to me.

Two doors, one for missionaries and one for crying parents. What a giant step it is.

We run through our doors to watch CJ getting his information.

The day is here and it is official. Elder Eaton! So very handsome, and we are so proud of him.

Hagin gets a hug just before we walk into the dreaded room for our final goodbye.

After 5 weeks in the MTC learning Russian, CJ finds out that there are some kind of problems with visas or such. For whatever the reason is, CJ is reassigned to the Eugene, Oregon Mission.

Yes, he loves Oregon. CJ has said over and over, he knows he is serving where he is suppose to be.
